Inter Ocean has inculcated the habit of environmental awareness and safety amongst its personnel and as such we take it as seriously as the quality of our service. We see to it that our repair procedures are within the environmental protection norms prescribed by the International Marine Organization (IMO) and the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC).

Particular attention is paid to ensure that pollution of the environment does not occur during shipyard repair periods. Issues that are given attention are..

All tank cleaning residues including slops and tank sludge is disposed off properly in accordance with    the legal regulations and MARPOL 73/78.

Deck scuppers are plugged or led to reception facilities so that any run off from decks can be    contained and properly treated. House keeping personnel checks waste-water handling process.

Transfers of liquids within the ship are planned so as to avoid accidental discharge of oily mixtures.

The process of opening any system should include confirmation that there will be no unacceptable    release of fluids or ozone depleting substances into the environment.

Ship's sewage, garbage etc must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations and/or    MARPOL 73/78.

A senior ship's officer is responsible for clearly establishing the identity of tank bottom plugs and for    supervising their removal and correct replacement so that the risk of inadvertently draining a tank that    might contain fuel or lubricating oil is avoided.

These happen to be some of the key issues with regards to environment awareness that Inter Ocean adheres to.
